External developer and user community has grown since initial release.
SELinux presentation at March 2001 Kernel Summit motivated creation of LSM.
SELinux drove the requirements for the LSM framework due to its comprehensiveness and generality.
SELinux kernel code now part of the mainline Linux 2.6 kernel.
Still requires userspace support and policy configuration to truly use, but provides basis for inclusion by distributions.
