NSA Joins FBI and Others to Provide Guidance to Mitigate Chinese Government-linked Actors Targeting Sensitive Data

FORT MEADE, Md. — The National Security Agency (NSA) is joining the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and others in releasing the Cybersecurity Advisory (CSA), “Chinese Government-linked Cyber Threat Actors Combine Automated and Hands-on Hacking Tools to Steal Sensitive Data,” to provide at-risk organizations with the information necessary to proactively defend their networks and protect critical data from cyber targeting.

NSA Releases Zero Trust Guidance for Protecting Operational Technology Systems

The "Zero Trust Guidance for Protecting Operational Technology Systems" assesses OT system vulnerabilities; provides guidance for implementing ZT outcomes despite technical limitations; identifies a manageable starting point for transitioning from perimeter-based defenses toward a verifiable, resilient, and adaptive architecture; proposes recommendations using ZT mitigation principles to prevent catastrophic impacts to our society's national security, economic security, and public health and safety; and outlines methods for tailoring ZT concepts to strengthen system security.

NSA Announces Post-Quantum Cryptography Measures to Safeguard National Security Systems Against Quantum Computing Threats

FORT MEADE, Md. — The National Security Agency (NSA) today announced new initiatives to safeguard National Security Systems (NSS) from the emerging threats posed by quantum computing. In line with Executive Order 14412, “Securing the Nation Against Advanced Cryptographic Attacks,” NSA continues to enhance the cybersecurity posture of the Department of War (DOW) and the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) to defend against advanced threats. Central to these efforts is the development of post-quantum cryptography resources to guide a large-scale transition to quantum-resistant algorithms.

NSA Releases Best Practices to Mitigate Threats in Development of ASICs

FORT MEADE, Md. — The National Security Agency (NSA) today released two technical reports addressing threats to application specific integrated circuits (ASICs) during the design and manufacturing process. The reports — ASIC Best Practices Threat Catalog and the Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) Level of Assurance 1 (LoA1) Best Practices — explain the threats against ASICs and recommend mitigations to reduce risk.
