Statement from GEN Paul M. Nakasone, Commander, USCYBERCOM, Director NSA on 2022 midterm elections

FORT MEADE, Md.  –   Vigilance — today and every day — isn't just a watchword, it's a matter of democracy. As millions of Americans cast their vote, U.S. Cyber Command and the National Security Agency (NSA) are committed to defending our electoral process from foreign threats.

This is an enduring mission. We continue to refine what we learned from the 2018 and 2020 elections. We generate insight to enable defense of the homeland, and ultimately impose costs by degrading and exposing foreign adversary capabilities and operations. But we can't do this alone—we are working side-by-side with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Department of Homeland Security. The key to success is partnerships: we are sharing real-time, actionable insights with CISA, FBI and other partners, who can use those insights to defend critical election infrastructure right here in the U.S.

Americans can rest assured: thousands of your fellow citizens stand ready to defend your vote, every single day. Our work does not end on Nov. 8. The dedicated people at U.S. Cyber Command and NSA work 24/7 to defend our nation from foreign threats.
