National Security Telecommunications and Information Systems Security Committee (NSTISSC) Designates Four Institutions as Meeting NSTISSC Training Standards

The National Security Telecommunications and Information Systems Security Committee has announced the designation of four training institutions as meeting NSTISSC standards. The Information Assurance Courseware Evaluation (IACE) process systematically assesses the degree to which the various institution, college and university curriculums satisfy the National Security Telecommunications and Information Systems Security Instruction standards. The distinguished institutions are:

  • FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY
  • INFORMATION RESOURCES MANAGEMENT COLLEGE
  • NAVAL POST GRADUATE SCHOOL
  • UNIVERSITY OF TULSA

Designations were granted following a review by Information Assurance (IA) subject matter experts from NSA and other federal agencies. The training institutions mapped their IA curriculum to specific NSTISSC IA training standards.

The NSTISSC is an intergovernmental organization that sets policy for the security of national security systems. The IA NSTISSC training standards listed below provide the minimum training and education standards for properly executing the duties and responsibilities for IA professionals:

  • Information Systems Security Professionals
  • Designated Approving Authority
  • Systems Administration in Information Systems Security
  • Information Systems Security Officers

Universities were formally recognized by the Chairman of the NSTISSC, Mr. Arthur L. Money, the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Command, Control, Communications, and Intelligence, during a presentation at the annual NSTISSC Conference in early April.
