Installation & Logistics Intern Program (I&L)

The Installation & Logistics (I&L) Intern Programs are the National Security Agency's newest programs for careers in the project management and electrical, power, mechanical and civil engineering fields.

Architect/Engineering – This program provides opportunities for individuals pursuing a Bachelor's degree in architecture, civil/structural engineering, electrical engineering (power emphasize) and mechanical engineering. I&L Interns gain valuable work-related experience in a government setting while being directly involved with selected NSA facilities construction/renovation projects that will support plant operations, infrastructure planning, design development, standards application, project management services and design drawing assistance.

Project Management – This program provides opportunities for individuals pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Project Management to gain valuable work-related experience in a government setting while being directly involved with selected NSA facilities construction/renovation projects from design through construction, commissioning, activation, and occupancy. Interns will also be involved in ensuring that projects run according to schedule, are cost effective, and meet customers' objectives.

Logistics – This program provides opportunities for individuals pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or Business Management. Interns will be directly involved with global logistics support that meets the needs of NSA organizations worldwide. Interns will provide material management services through acquisition, logistics, storage, distribution and cargo services support to the entire Agency and gain valuable work-related experience in a government setting.

Applications are accepted September 1st - November 15th each year.

About the Program
I&L Interns are hired on a Temporary Appointment for a 12-week term. The program consists of direct involvement with selected NSA facilities construction/renovation projects from design through construction, commissioning, activation and occupancy. Interns are also involved in ensuring that projects run according to schedule, are cost effective, and meet customer objectives.

Salary
Students are paid a competitive salary commensurate with their education level.

Benefits

  • Receive vacation time, sick leave and federal holidays
  • Students who attend schools in excess of 75 miles from Fort Meade, MD, are eligible for a round trip airfare ticket to and from school, or mileage reimbursement up to the cost of a government-issued airline ticket.
  • Housing accommodations can be arranged upon request.

Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must be eligible to be granted a security clearance
  • Must be a college student majoring in Construction Management, Supply Line Management, or related Facilities/Logistics field
  • A cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is preferred
  • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills
  • Eligible to obtain a high-level security clearance
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work
