Commercial Engagement Center (CEC)

NSA's Commercial Engagement Center (CEC) works with commercial companies to help make us safer at home and abroad. Today more than ever public-private partnerships are needed to protect national security communications and to prevent foreign adversaries from harming our nation and our allies - both physically and in cyberspace.

CEC also supports the federal government as a technical expert in several areas to help protect the nation.

Export Control: The U.S. Government controls exports of equipment software and technology as a means to promote our national security interests and foreign policy objectives. NSA provides technical support to the Department of Commerce and Department of Treasury among others on commercial encryption technology export issues.

Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S. (CFIUS): "International investment in the United States promotes economic growth productivity competitiveness and job creation. It is the policy of the United States to support unequivocally such investment consistent with the protection of National Security." (Executive Order 11858) NSA participates in and provides technical expertise to CFIUS an inter-agency committee that reviews and evaluates foreign acquisition of U.S. business for national security implications.

We need industry's help to solve current and future technology challenges. We will continue to bolster trusted corporate partnerships to help solve common challenges while respecting industry's commitment to its shareholders and customers.
