Avoid Buffer Overflow

Hello.

I have not been following the buffer overflow conversations. However, I did find this Linux HOWTO at http://www.linuxdoc.org. Perhaps someone has already suggested reading this HOWTO but just in case no one has, I thought I would pass this a long. I am a novice C programmer but as I learn more I think I might implement some of the HOWTO's suggestions.
