NSA/CSS Welcomes Mr. John C. Inglis as the
New Deputy Director
Lieutenant General Keith B. Alexander, Director, National Security Agency/Chief, Central Security Service is pleased to welcome Mr. John C. Inglis as the 14th Deputy Director of the Agency. As the senior civilian at NSA, Mr. Inglis acts as the Agency’s chief operating officer, guiding and directing strategies and policy, and serves as the principal advisor to the Director. Mr. Inglis returns from London where he served as the Special U.S. Liaison Officer for the past three years contributing greatly to one of the Nation’s longest standing cryptologic partnerships.
"Mr. Inglis' extensive and diverse experience in many critical areas of information assurance and signals intelligence make him ideally suited to serve as Deputy Director," Alexander said. Mr. Inglis held positions as the Deputy Director for Analysis and Production and as the Chief of the Office of China and Korea in the Signals Intelligence Directorate as well as having served as a Senior Operations Officer in National Security Operations Center—NSA/CSS’s 24-hour watch center keeping a pulse on cryptologic assets around the world. Mr. Inglis also held analyst and management positions in the Information Systems Security Directorate, currently the Information Assurance Directorate.
"I am confident that he will make significant contributions toward implementing the Agency's transformation endeavors," Alexander said. Mr. Inglis' varied career experiences "outside" NSA/CSS, bring a unique perspective to the decision-making of the Director's leadership team. Mr. Inglis is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy; Columbia University; Johns Hopkins University; George Washington University; Air War College; USAF Squadron Officers School and the Air Command and Staff College. He held the rating of Command Pilot in the U.S. Air Force and has completed various degrees and programs in Engineering and Computer Science.
Mr. Inglis' accomplishments have been recognized most notably by the receipt of the Presidential Rank Award for Meritorious Service (2000), the Exceptional Civilian Service Award (2002), and the Presidential Rank Award for Distinguished Service (2004) to name a few.
