NATIONAL SECURITY AGENCY FORT GEORGE G. MEADE, MARYLAND 20755-6000 NSA PRESS RELEASE NSA/CSS Welcomes LTG Keith B. Alexander, USAThe National Security Agency/Central Security Service is pleased to welcome Lieutenant General Keith B. Alexander, United States Army, as the next Director, NSA/Chief, CSS. LTG Alexander reports for duty on 01 August 2005 and brings with him over 30 years of experience gained during a distinguished career in the Army. LTG Alexander has served in a variety of intelligence positions, and he supported the warfighter in Europe and in Operations DESERT SHIELD and DESERT STORM. His past positions include Deputy Director for Intelligence (J2) for the Joint Staff from 1997 to 1998; Director for Intelligence (J2) for the United States Central Command from 1998 to 2001; Commander of the United States Army Intelligence and Security Command from 2001 to 2003; and, most recently, Deputy Chief of Staff (G2) for the United States Army from 2003 to 2005. LTG Alexander holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Boston University, Master's Degrees in Electronic Warfare and Physics from the Naval Post Graduate School, and a Master's Degree in National Security Strategy from the National War College. He is a graduate of various Intelligence Schools, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, and the National War College. His awards and decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, and various other service medals to include the Senior Parachutist Badge, the Joint Chiefs of Staff Identification Badge, and the Army Staff Identification Badge. LTG Alexander is the Agency's 16th Director since its creation in November 1952.
