Carpooling, Vanpooling – Sharing the Ride and Saving the Environment!

In an ongoing effort to a national leader in green initiatives, the National Security Agency is encouraging its workforce to save gas, save money, save time and most of all save the environment by ride sharing.

Ride sharing, which is composed of carpooling and vanpooling, is one of the best ways to save money on fuel, insurance, and car maintenance. It is also environmentally friendly. By reducing the number of vehicles on the road and the composite number of miles traveled, vehicle emissions are significantly reduced, thus aiding in improving overall air quality. Specifically, fewer emissions mean less ground-level ozone, which is the main constituent of smog. The positive effects, both for health and for the environment, of decreasing auto emissions were showcased during the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China.

To top off the list of good reasons to ride share, it is a proven fact that vanpool and carpool riders have lower stress commutes to work, and are therefore more productive employees and have higher levels of morale.

In summary, ride sharing commuters get to work in ways that reduce air pollution and traffic congestion, save employers and employees money, reduce the environmental impacts associated with driving single-passenger vehicles, reduce parking space demand and expenses, and relieve commuter stress.
